three men practicing tai chi

Brent Neely

TAI CHI (TAIJI) INSTRUCTOR

Brent Neely began training in martial arts in 1968 at the age of 16. After 8 years, and attaining a second-degree black belt in karate, Mr. Neely wanted to broaden his understanding of martial arts. He then began studying aikido in the Denver, Co. area, and Taijiquan with the core Taiji faculty of Naropa Institute, Jane (now deceased), and Bataan Faigao.

Mr. Neely really fell in love with Taiji because of the therapeutic effects he started feeling. This intrigued Mr. Neely a great deal. He had back injuries, sustained in his youth, that limited his mobility. Within two weeks of practicing taiji, the pain, pressure, and stiffness, started to dissipate.

After several years of practice, Mr. Neely started to study with internationally known Taiji master, Benjamin Lo Pang Jeng,  Mr. Lo is the senior student of the late renowned taiji grand master, Cheng Man Ching.

In the early ‘90s, Mr. Neely attended a national Taiji tournament a few times, called A Taste of China, once reaching the semi-finals, and once making it to the finals in his weight division, in the push hands competition.

Mr. Neely continues to practice daily with formwork, Taiji sword, and push hands.
