From Our Clients

Over the last 5 years I've been through the wringer trying to get a handle on my life dealing with addiction. I've been In and out of a few treatment centers, moving to different cities, and had what felt like countless failures. But for the first time in my life I sit here today with over a year of sobriety—I have my life together, I'm happy, I feel proud of myself, and I have my family back in my life. I have to credit Ronan O'Loughlin, Will Carpenter and Peace and Purpose as a whole immensely for getting where I am now. If you're willing to admit you don't know what you're doing, listen, commit and trust the process-Peace and Purpose teaches you to be a responsible man who can stand tall. This time last year I had completely given up.

The program here meets clients where they are, and helps them find a way back into the world. I can never explain what it will be like to the new guy, because each person's needs, situation, and input are used to help decide what their own recovery needs to be. The commonalities are building a community, working on one's self, and learning how to have a rich, full life again. I cannot recommend thls experience enough.

I found Peace and Purpose by way of a friend. The staff's commitment to helping those who so need it is absolutely incredible. The houses are comfortable and located in an area of Asheville that are convenient to activities that are conducive to recovery. I particularly loved the outdoor activities like hiking, climbing and lake canoeing. Peace and Purpose's staff are all experienced, caring, informed and generous. The added fact that they are fighting the same battle that I am fighting, made me feel all the more confident. I am forever thankful to my friend for helping me discover this special place.

From Parents of Our Clients

This place saved my son's life! Ronan and his team are amazing humans. My son spent a little over 7 months there and his life has completely changed. They are a big family working together towards the same goal, sobriety! Ronan has thought of everything. Keeping the guys busy, giving back to the community, helping them find jobs, manage finances and set goals for the future. The weekly family counseling sessions with Robin helped me greatly as a mom new to this situation. They also offer a program helping the guys settle into their independent life when they are ready to be on their own (which we are doing now). The house managers Will and Murphy really care about these guys and help them with their individual program. It definitely feels like a family not a facility. I can't recommend this place enough!

Peace & Purpose lives up to its name - a place where young men caught in the trap of addiction can rediscover hope and direction in their lives. Ronan's no-nonsense commitment to these guys inspires those of us witnessing the miracle up close, and Robin's practical guidance for families is also a real blessing. It is a community where folks learn to work the 12 steps with accountability and encouragement built in. I am so deeply grateful for this sanctuary of restoration!

My son lived at Peace and Purpose for 7 months. I have had such peace in these past seven months and I know my son has also. Ronan is a man of great character and integrity. He was the reason my son chose this particular place for his recovery. His support of these young men goes above and beyond. He is there whenever my husband or I need to talk about anything. Ronan is so giving with his time, and is completely supportive and reassuring about my son's progress. He is a solid role model and mentor. He inspires me. I slept at night knowing that Ronan was on top of the details necessary to guide my son toward a healthy and happy life. He orchestrated all the components for my sons personal growth. It takes a village! …

My experience with Peace and Purpose was one of support, encouragement, perseverance and hope. The staff afforded me the option to be as involved as I wanted with my son's recovery but also the encouragement to keep my boundaries as he did the work. I thought P&P to be a safe and trusting place where sobriety and the 12 step lifestyle are honestly lived. My son was ready to change his life and this place helped him navigate his way to his new life in sobriety. I am deeply grateful for Ronan, the staff and the on going mission of Peace and Purpose.

From Treatment Professionals

Steps to Peace and Purpose has been a great resource for many clients that I’ve worked with over the past few years. I use them as one of my primary referral partners. As a provider of addiction treatment services, it is always nice to have reliable partners in the communities that can help clients be successful in their aftercare plans. They do a great job, and care about the men they serve.

I believe recovery isn't possible without fellowship, support, and fun! The fine people at Peace and Purpose make sure that their clients' needs are met on all levels. This Includes responsibility for a caring environment, making sure their mental health needs are met, and that there is a balance of work and fun. This is accomplished all while keeping the importance of sobriety in the forefront. I am so grateful they are part of the community here, and have had the honor through my own profession in mental health to have witnessed quite a transformation in many of the gentlemen who call Peace and Purpose home.

If you're looking for an established, ethical sober living community. Peace and Purpose would be the best fit in Buncombe County by far. Their program is heart centered and 12 step based. They have a lot of added services including, yoga, meditation, adventure therapy etc.
